Okay, I have had my coffee. What’s all the fuss about?

A big “thank you” to everyone who came to the meeting last Tuesday. We are very happy to see so many of you interested, and looking forward to a lot of new input.

There were a number of things to follow from the meeting. The first and most important is training. Believe it or not, I have now managed to arrange a date with, Mary Crowley. She is a wonderful but extremely busy lady, and a hard bargainer for dates! But we’re booked for Wednesday, the 3rd March, in the evening.  Please move heaven and earth for this. We meet at 7:30pm, in the catechist room downstairs. We can have a half-hour beforehand to go over logistics and practical matters whilst she prepares.

We’re looking to convert the end of the larger room into a storage area. So, please have a think of what we should have, and forward it along. The list I have at the moment includes liturgy books, and art materials specifically glue, sellotape, scissors (ones that work), crayons, large poster boards (foam boards), A2 paper.

If anyone has thoughts on the layout for the storage area, do forward it along. It may take a little while to get the storage sorted properly, but as Elsa mentioned, our greatest resource is our enthusiasm, so I’m sure any delays there won’t hinder us.

Still on a serious note, we’re short of people for our schedules in the coming weeks (including this Sunday, the 8th Feb). If you can help, please give me a call or drop me an email. You will be working fully with one of us who have been doing it for a little while, so you won’t be left in the cold, promise!

I would like to compile the rota for the Sundays up to Easter. Please forward me as soon as possible any dates you cannot do, and by magic, you’ll get back a rota where everything fits (honest!). Email to koko@dircon.co.uk, or leave me a message on 07811 458 515. Speaking of Easter, have you any thoughts on what we may do for Children’s Liturgy for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday?

At Your Word, Lord! Well, you’ve seen the posters and heard the blurb, but I reckon there’s a good chance many of us probably still don’t know what it’s about. So here goes (and skip the paragraph if you know already). It’s a program to get people together in small house groups to explore the Gospel. The material is all prepared beforehand. The meetings are hosted by one of the members of the group. There will be a leader, who will be given training. The meetings will be about an hour each, chosen at a time convenient to the people. I have never done it, but I think it’s similar to what we do as part of our liturgy preparation. That is, read the Gospel, think about it, and what it suggests to us and to our lives. The themes for each week are in the material for Lent I handed out on Tuesday during our meeting on the general theme of Conversion. Do have a think about joining, maybe get a friend to come along. Have a think if you would like to host or lead also. Enrolment is this Sunday, and we’ll be handing out forms to the adults in the younger group also.

Now the fun bits. We’re thinking of yet another get together. Yes, we do this once every few months, and it’s been a while since the last. For those whose other-halves are brave enough, they’re very welcome to come along! For the newbies, be prepared for any manner of activities: pubs, restaurants, dance clubs (yes, we’re all funky garage freaks), bring-a-dish (and-don’t-forget-the-washing-up). Basically, anything anyone wants to try. I believe Michele is looking into something for Saturday March 6th, … so cancel the diner parties, start farming out the kids, and be prepared to be on the razzle till the wee hours.

Finally, the trivial. I keep our schedules on a web site (www.koko.dircon.co.uk/ChildrenLiturgy), and materials that we have been putting together (somewhat sporadically). It does have a number of useful links also. Have a look if you have time, and as with all things, suggestions and help are welcome.

I’ve enclosed a contact list. Please check that the details are correct, and apology if I got any of your names wrong. If you use email, please include it.

Best wishes, and God bless

David
