Diocesan Catechesis & Liturgy Conference

Our annual conference for catechists is entitled 'Celebrating Catechesis' this year. It begins on Friday evening 7th May and ends Sunday lunchtime 9th May, at All Saints Pastoral Centre, London Colney. Fr Perry Gildea CM is our keynote speaker and we will be looking at how, as catechists, we celebrate in liturgy what we do in catechesis. A variety of workshops will be on offer on particular areas of catechesis as well as opportunities for sharing ideas and good practice with each other. Material for Children’s Liturgy for AYWL

Materials are available from At Your Word, Lord for Children’s Liturgy sessions during Masses on Sundays during Season 2. The materials are based on the weekly themes of the season and will offer catechists ideas on appropriate activities, a simplified Creed and prayers of inter-cession. A small group of advisers, catechists and teachers, led by Diana Klein and Joe Kennedy, have written the materials. They will be sent to each parish on CD and are available on the web from the AYWL site www.aywl.org.uk. Paper copies can be requested from the AYWL office.

Please note that the website and the CD’s being produced also include materials for primary school assemblies and classroom worship. They also offer materials for teens for use in schools or in parishes.

The At Your Word, Lord Meditation booklets are available in parishes – offering a short reflection for each day during Lent.

Religious Education for Children in the Parish

A training day led by Diana Klein is offered at St John Fisher, 80 Imperial Drive, North Harrow HA2 7LW for catechists offering Religious Education to children in the parish who are not in Catholic schools. It is so important that we offer these children the opportunity of learning about their faith. The day is on Saturday 6th March - it begins at 10am and finishes at 4pm. Children's Liturgy Training Day

A Children's Liturgy training day is offered on 20th March 10am – 4pm at the Annunciation Parish, Thirleby Road, Burnt Oak HA8 0HQ. It will be led by Sr Sheila McNamara rscj and Judy Makin. Bring your own lunch – call Maria on 8202 3611 for a place.

CCRS Unit on Catechesis
